Mare Insularum

The Mare Insularum - Latin for island sea - is a marginal sea of ​​the Oceanus Procellarum on the Moon. The name is little used because the designation until 1976 was carried out by the International Astronomical Union.

The Mare has a mean diameter of 513 km and is located on the western half of the moon in front of the selenographic coordinates 7.5 ° North and 30.5 ° West. It is located south of Mare Imbrium in the field of eye-catching ray crater Copernicus and Kepler.
