Marek Jankulovski ( born May 9, 1977 in Ostrava ) is a former Czech football player.

Club career

Marek Jankulovski began playing football at Banik Ostrava. In the 1994/95 season, the midfielder was used for the first time in the first team. In the second round in 1995/96 he was loaned to third division VTJ Znojmo and then returned to Ostrava.

In the following years Jankulovski was one of the best players in BANIK. In the season 1999/00, the left-footed reach eight goals in 27 games, which made foreign clubs attention to him. Jankulovski moved to Napoli in Italy's Serie A, where he remained for two years. He was bound by Udinese Calcio, where he was one of the outstanding players of 2002. In three seasons, he played 91 games and scored 15 goals.

Several top European clubs were interested in the services of the Czechs, including Juventus, finally Jankulovskis services secured 2005 AC Milan. In Milan Jankulovski sat in the first year only on the bench, in the season 2006/ 07 he belonged to the tribe formation.

In that season, he won with AC Milan UEFA Champions League 2006/07. In 2011 he won the Italian championship. In 2012, he finished his career.

Jankulovskis strengths lay in his speed, his excellent technique and his hard shot with his left foot. In this way, it is not quite making it to hit from the second row by shot. He could be used both in defense and in midfield on the left.

National

Marek Jankulovskis talent did the coaches not long hidden. He went through all the junior teams of the Czech Republic. In the national team he debuted on 8 February 2000 in a 2-1 win over Mexico in the Carlsberg Cup. Since then Jankulovski belonged to the permanent staff of the Czech national team, in which he is, however, used as a left-back in the back four. He played in Euro 2000, Euro 2004 and at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008. According to the qualifier for the finals of the World Cup 2010 on 14 October 2009 against the Northern Irish national team, he announced his retirement from the Czech national team.

Others

His father Pando Jankulovski, native Macedonians, played for many years in the second Czechoslovak League for NHKG Ostrava and TJ TŽ Třinec and 1962-1965 for Zbrojovka Brno in the first league. He also played in the Austrian State League A for the SV Kapfenberg.
