Maren Baumbach ( born January 14, 1981 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt ) is a former German handball player.

Career

She started at the age of eight years when TV Oeffingen, to play hand ball under coach Eberhard carpenter and four years later moved to VfL Waiblingen. From 1999 played Baumbach one season for the TuS Metzingen and for TuS Eintracht Minden. From 2001 to 2007 she was at the Bundesliga DJK / MJC Trier under contract and won there in 2003, the German championship. For the season 2007/ 08, the 1.70 m wide playmaker moved to Denmark for FCK Håndbold. From the summer of 2009, Baumbach paused for a year. Then Baumbach returned to the Bundesliga and played for VfL Sindelfingen. When the club a year later went bust, she ended her career.

Most gambling on back center of the room Maren Baumbach belonged from 2000 to the national team for which she scored 341 goals in 120 internationals. She participated in the 2004 European Championships (5th place ) and 2006 ( 4th place) in part. Shortly after the 2008 Olympics, she retired from the national team.

Private

Maren Baumbach has studied to become a teacher in Saarbrücken mathematics and sports. She is the second cousin two years older Faustballerin Sabine Ansel from Stuttgart who was with the SV Ahlhorner six times German champion and with the German national team three times European champion and 2006 World Champion. Her brother Jens plays handball second division TV enter this field. She works at the Gustav -Stresemann -Gymnasium in Schmiden.
