Margaret Gorman

Margaret Gorman, later Margaret Gorman Cahill, ( born August 18, 1905 in Washington, DC; † 1 October 1995) was 1921, the first Miss America.

Margaret Gorman was in Washington D.C. born, where they went to school. At the age of 15 she was a finalist for the first election of the Miss Washington DC, which she won. Shortly thereafter, she won the Inter-City Beauty Contest and The Most Beautiful Bathing Girl in America. On September 8, 1921 she won the first elections for Miss America. With its 16 years and a size of only 1.53 meters, she was the youngest and smallest Miss America of all time and the only Miss Washington DC, which was given this title while they still attended school.

In the following years she tried again to become Miss America, but failed. Mid-1920s, she married Victor Cahill, with whom she lived until his death in 1957. She herself had always resided in Washington DC, but often went on trips.
