Margaret of Brabant

Margaret of Brabant (* 1275/1276, † December 14, 1311 in Genoa) was the wife of Henry VII of Luxembourg and from her coronation in 1309 Roman- German queen.

Margaret was the daughter of Duke John I of Brabant. She was married in 1292 to the young Count Henry of Luxembourg under the policy of rapprochement with the house of Luxembourg (due to the enmity that resulted from the Battle of Worringen ). The marriage was apparently happy. They had a son, John of Luxembourg (1296-1346), and two daughters, Maria ( 1304-24 ) and Beatrix ( 1305-19 ). Margaret accompanied her husband on his Italian campaign, but fell ill during the siege of Brescia and died in Genoa, where she is also buried a few months later. Built for her tomb, however, is not completely preserved.
