Margarete Haagen

Margarete Haagen (also: Margaret ) ( born November 29, 1889 in Nuremberg, † November 19, 1966 in Munich) was a German actress.

Life

Even as a six year-old she was on stage. Against the wishes of her parents, she was able to assert their career aspirations. Her acting career began at the City Theatre Nuremberg, where she stayed for many years faithful - apart from commitment at the Schauspielhaus in Bremen ( 1913) and during the First World War at the Deutsches Theater Lodz (Front Theatre). Later she worked in Stuttgart at the Schauspielhaus and broadcasting. In 1930 she finally came to the National Theatre in Munich. She stayed there until she went in 1939 to Berlin, where she got her first film role. After the war, she moved back to Munich, where he played in the postwar period at the National Theatre, in the Munich Chamber games, in the little comedy and cabaret at the show booth.

In more than 100 films Haagen always embodied the good-natured, amiable and witty elderly lady. She experienced great acting success in 1958 as the protagonist and great-grandmother in your 106th birthday and in the role of "Grandma Jantzen " in the Immenhof trilogy. She lent her voice also May Whitty in The Gaslight and Una O'Connor in The Bells of St. Mary.
