Maria Barbal

Maria Barbal i Farré ( born September 17, 1949 in Tremp ) is a Catalan writer. She is considered one of the most important and successful contemporary authors Catalan.

Barbal spent her childhood in the mountainous region of the Spanish Pyrenees. In 1964 she came to Barcelona to study at the university Spanish philology. Thereafter, where she worked as a teacher.
