Maria Eis

Maria Eis ( born February 22, 1896 in Prague, † December 18, 1954 in Vienna) was an Austrian Chamber actress and film actress.

In the period from 1918 to 1923, she performed at the New Viennese stage, the Renaissance stage and the intimate theater in Vienna. Then Maria Eis went to Hamburg, where he played until 1932 at the Thalia Theatre and at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus. On his return to Vienna, began her impressive career as a character actress and tragic actress at the Burgtheater, where she was employed until her death as an ensemble member. Her performances as Elizabeth I, Lady Macbeth, Sappho, Iphigenia and Medea deserve special mention.

From 1935 Maria ice could succeed as a film actress and starred in more than two dozen feature films.

She was married three times and brought in 1940 her son Henry ( Heiki ) to the world. This played between the age of 5 and 11 years numerous theater roles and a lead role in the feature film God's Angels are Everywhere (1947).

In memory of Maria ice road surface in front of the former Karl Michael Ziehrer House, the Mary Ice alley in the 3rd district of Vienna in 1960, named after her, in which up to about May 2006, the infeed of the post and telegraph administration Vienna III was housed.

Your honorary devoted grave is located in Vienna's Central Cemetery (Group 33 A, number 4, number 12).
