Maria Fein

Maria Fein ( born April 7, 1892 in Vienna, † September 15, 1965 in Zurich ) was a German actress and theater director.

Life

Fine was born as a Jew, however, was baptized early Catholic. She was educated in Vienna, then she moved to Dresden, where she got some major theater roles under the direction of Bruno Walter Iltz. Later she appeared in Berlin and Dusseldorf. The first film role she got in 1916.

Under Max Reinhardt fine initially worked in Berlin at many world premieres of contemporary authors, but also played the major roles of the classical drama. It is significant further as the founder (with Max Reinhardt ) of the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. With its own theater group they also toured Europe and even in the United States. In addition, Maria Fein has resulted in several major productions in theater history directed, namely Cocteau's Infernal Machine at the Lucerne Festival and Elektra Giraudoux.

Maria Fein was married to fellow actor Theodor Becker, with whom she had two daughters: Thea Becker and actress Maria Becker.
