Maria Maria became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in many countries, including the United States, in Germany and Switzerland. The title was awarded a Grammy and 15 times platinum and is the second most successful Latino song of all time. In the best-seller list on the U.S. Billboard charts Maria Maria place went to 14 and stayed alone in the United States 10 weeks on the highest place.

It was written and composed Maria Maria by The Product G & B, Carlos Santana and Wyclef Jean. Executive Producer Clive Davis. The title was the second single from the Santana album Supernatural by Smooth.

Formation

Shortly after the foundation Wyclef Jean became aware of The Product G & B and suggested they take Mary Mary along with Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana. Santana himself had to place no chart hits in Germany since the days of Black Magic Woman and Oye Como Va in the early 70s. The Jean wanted to change. The four produced a song that initiating the big comeback of Carlos Santana.
