Maria Martens

Maria Martens ( born January 8, 1955 in Doetinchem ) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Party ( CDA).

Life

After a university degree in theology in 1984 and marketing Maria Martens worked as a lecturer for worldviews. From 1984 to 1988 she worked as a secretary for foreign affairs in the Netherlands Mission Council and from 1988 to 1999 as study secretary of the Association of Catholic social organizations. Overlapping she was from 1996 to 2000 chairman of the Netherlands Episcopal Committee for the year 2000. Since 1998, she also sits as a member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Theological University of Utrecht.

Policy

She is Chair of the CDA Nijmegen and member of the party council. Within the party, she is also a member of the journal editorial office of "CD Verkenningen ." Since 1999, it sits as a Member of the European Parliament., Where she sits in the Development Committee and is a member of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP -EU) delegation. She is a member of the EU Parliament Group of the European people's Party - European Democrats and sits there on the board.
