Maria Mena
Maria Viktoria Mena ( born February 19, 1986 in Oslo) is a Norwegian pop musician and songwriter.
Life
Maria Mena grew up in an artistically active family. The mother, a Norwegian who wrote lyrics, the father of Charles Mena, who was born in Nicaragua and raised in New York, worked as a drummer. Maria and her younger brother Tony are named after characters from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. The father played in many bands in Oslo, which is also his daughter approach led early on the professional music scene. When she was nine years old, her parents divorced. Four years later, Maria went to her father and began to write lyrics and sing. The song My Lullaby she wrote to express their feelings about the divorce of the parents expressed. In March 2002 My Lullaby was released by Sony Music and reached the fifth place in the Norwegian charts.
In September and October 2007, Maria Mena undertook a club tour of nine German cities. Maria Mena's second tour led from 1 April 2008 by eight German cities as well as Zurich and Vienna. In December 2007 Maria Mena was in Germany a gold record for selling over 100,000 copies of the 2005 first published album Apparently Unaffected. The album is also the title Just Hold Me, who helped her as a single release international breakthrough. Furthermore, she was nominated for the Echo 2008 in the category Best Newcomer International.
In April 2008 appeared to Mary Menas fourth single from Apparently Unaffected. On 3 October 2008 Menas album Cause and Effect was published in the German-speaking countries. The song Power Trip Ballad contained therein raise again the separation of their parents.
On October 12, 2010, of Mary's friend Eivind a marriage proposal made , she agreed and is thus engaged.
After the attacks in Norway in 2011, she released a cover version of Ole Paus ' song Mitt Lille country. In September 2011, the album Viktoria appeared. The first singles were on May 27, 2011 This Too Shall Pass, and on 12 August 2011 Homeless.
On October 7, 2011 was published in Germany their album Viktoria; In March 2012, she went for the first time in three years on tour in Germany and played in Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Offenbach, Munich, Dresden and Stuttgart.
In September 2013, published by the increasing use of electronic elements in style significantly different from your previous works studio album Weapon in Mind. In February 2014, it again went on tour and played among others in Zurich, Stuttgart, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
