Maria Rosa Quario

Maria Rosa Quario ( born May 24, 1961 in Milan ) is an Italian former alpine skier, who specialized in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom. In its stronger discipline, the slalom, she won four World Cup races.

Career

Maria Rosa Quario belonged from 1979 to 1986 the world's best slalom racers. She won four slalom races in their careers in the World Cup. In addition, they scored eleven other podium places. In the season 1982/83 they reached the third place in the slalom standings, 1981/82 and 1984/85 in fourth place. In the giant slalom, it achieved in the 1981/82 season two sixth places in Val d'Isere and Pila.

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid Quario drove in the slalom to fourth place after it was still as third parties on a medal in the first run. Erika Hess supplanted the Italian nor by 3 hundredths of a second of bronze. The same happened to her even at the World Ski Championships 1982 in Schladming as she led after the first run, but in the end had to settle for modest fifth place. In 1983, she was Italian Champion in slalom. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo she went to seventh in the slalom.

In 1986 Quario their resignation. Her daughter Federica Brignone is also a ski racer.
