Maria Siemionow

Maria Siemionow is a Polish surgeon. She is currently Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Director of Plastic Surgery Research and Head of Microsurgery Training at the Cleveland Clinic. In December 2008, she led the team of doctors that the first face transplant in the United States carried out in a 22 -hour operation in which 80 % of the face were transplanted. Siemionow completed in 1974 to study medicine at the Medical University of Poznan in Poland and received his PhD in microsurgery ibid.
