Maria Usifo

Usifo Maria ( born August 1, 1964) is a former Nigerian hurdler and sprinter.

It was regarded in the 1980s as one of the dominant African Hurdler, was five times African champion and was able to secure at the Pan-African Games in 1987 in Nairobi both gold medals of their disciplines.

In 1982, she was eighth over 100 m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, she reached both the 100m hurdles as well as over 400 meters hurdles semi-final.

As a student at Texas Southern University, she was 1986 NCAA champion in the 400 m hurdles. At the World Athletics Championships 1987, she reached the semifinals in the 400m and 400m hurdles. In 1988, she retired from the 100m hurdles in the quarterfinals and 400m hurdles in the flow at the Olympic Games in Seoul. At the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria, it was about 400 meters hurdles eighth.
