Marian Keyes

Mary Catherine " Marian " Keyes ( born September 10, 1963 in Limerick, Ireland) is an Irish author. It applies in addition to Helen Fielding as co-founder of a new generation of women's novels, which are primarily aimed at young working single women and are referred to in English as chick lit.

Keyes grew up as the oldest of five children in Dublin. She took a degree in law at University College Dublin and then went to London, where she worked, and later worked as a waitress as an office assistant. During this time she began to write short stories and sent the manuscript to a publisher with the ( false ) claim that they also worked on a novel. The publisher wanted to publish short story collection of an unknown author, but showed interest in the novel. So Keyes wrote in a few weeks, her first novel, Watermelon, was her breakthrough as a writer at the same time. After this first success more novels and two collections of short stories appeared from her pen. Your books reach a total circulation of 15 million copies and been translated into 30 languages. In her books are based a television series, a TV movie and a French movie.
