Marian Krzaklewski

Marian Krzaklewski ( born August 23, 1950 in Kolbuszowa, Subcarpathian Voivodeship ) is a Polish politician.

Krzaklewski been since the 1980s a member of Solidarity and took over in 1991 chaired after Lech Wałęsa was elected president. After numerous parties that have arisen from the union movement, the catchment missed in the Sejm elections to parliament in 1993, he, in 1996 about 40 groups for Electoral Action Solidarity (AWS ) together. In the 1997 parliamentary elections, the electoral alliance under his leadership won the election with 33.8 % and formed a coalition government with the Freedom Union ( UW). Although supported by the coalition partners and the President, Krzaklewski refused the post of Prime Minister and has only been Group Chairman of the AWS Group. Became prime minister Jerzy Buzek.

In the presidential elections in 2000 Krzaklewski stood as a candidate for the AWS, but failed with only 15.6%.

2001 Krzaklewski resigned as chairman of the AWS. In 2002 he resigned and the Solidarity chairman.
