Marian Oprea

Marian Oprea ( born June 6, 1982 in Piteşti ) is a Romanian triple jumper.

The Junior World Champion from 2000 played his first major international championships at the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton, but did not have the qualifications beyond - as well as at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 and the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis. His biggest success so far was winning the silver medal at the IAAF European Indoor Championships 2002 in Vienna with a width of 17.22 m.

The breakthrough came at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where he won the silver medal with 17.55 meters. He was at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki at the favorites and won with 17,40 m bronze medal.

His personal best he scored on 5 July 2005 at a meeting in Lausanne with 17.81 m. He jumped so further 2 inches, as the best triple jumper Christian Olsson of recent years has ever managed. At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006, he had to Christian Olsson defeated, but won the bronze medal.

Marian Oprea has a competition weight of 77 kg at a height of 1.90 m.
