Mariano Barbosa

Mariano Damián Barbosa ( born July 27, 1984 in Lomas de Zamora) is an Argentine football player.

Playing career

Banfield and Villarreal

Mariano Barbosa started his career as a professional footballer at only a few kilometers south of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires Club Atlético Banfield. There he played from 2002 to 2005 for three years to him the Chilean Manuel Pellegrini to Spanish side Villarreal took. There he shared the space in the door for two years with the Uruguayan Sebastián Viera. With his team, he reached in the 2005/2006 season the semifinals of the Champions League - in the end decided a single goal from Arsenal over the withdrawal of Ostspanier.

Due to the strong competition at Villarreal Argentine Barbosa 2007 moved to first division rivals Recreativo Huelva, succumbed in the preparation in the goalkeeping duel, however, the newly -down Italian Stefano Sorrentino. After only four missions in the cup and not a single application in the League was drawn Barbosa in the summer of 2008 in his home country of Argentina, where he signed a contract with Estudiantes de la Plata.
