Mariaposching lies in the Donau -Wald directly on the Danube opposite Stephansposching. Distance to the nearest urban arc 15 km, 15 km Deggendorf, Straubing 25 km away.

History
Mariaposching belonged to Rentamt Straubing and the district court Mitterfels of the Electorate of Bavaria. The district court Mitterfels here shared the responsibility with the District Court of Deggendorf.
