Marie Bashir

Marie Bashir ( born December 1, 1930 in Narrandera ) is an Australian politician and physician.

Life

Bashir studied medicine and psychiatry at the University of Sydney. Since March 1, 2001 Bashir counts as the successor of Governor Gordon Samuels of the Australian state of New South Wales. Since 2007 she is the successor of Kim Santow, Chancellor of the University of Sydney. She is married to Nicholas Shehadie and has three children.
