Marie Svensson

Marie Svensson ( born August 9, 1967 in Simrishamn ) is a Swedish table tennis player. 1994, it was European champion in singles.

Career

The first successes at international level achieved Marie Svensson at the Nordic Championships (North European & Nordic Championships ), where they in doubles (with Pernilla Pettersson and Charlotte Polk ) won in 1986 in the single as well as 1988 and 1990. In the 1990s, she won several times the Swedish National Championship, about 1992 to 1995 four times in a row in Single and 1992-1994 respectively in the doubles. From 1986 to 2000 she was nominated five times for the European Championships, where they celebrated their greatest triumphs. In Birmingham they defeated in 1994 in the final the Dutch Gerdie Keen and thus became European champion. At Euro 1998, she won a silver medal in doubles with Otilia Bădescu ( behind Nicole Struse / Elke Schall of Germany ) and the Mixed with Erik Lindh. Two years later she again reached the final in mixed doubles with the Yugoslavs Ilija Lupulesku.

From 1992 to 1998 she appeared in every year in the European ranking tournament TOP -12. They won second place in 1992 and 1998 with third place. The nine appearances at the World Championships they only came in 1995 in a medal when she won with Erik Lindh bronze in mixed doubles. 1992, 1996 and 2000, she qualified for participation in the Summer Olympics, where she was eliminated each morning.

Germany

Some years Marie Svensson played for German Bundesliga clubs. In the season 1995/96 she was engaged by the TSV Röthenbach. Then they returned to Sweden in 1998 before the FC Langweid joined. As of 2002, she went to France to Montpellier TT. After the 2004/05 season at the then third division Müllermilch Langweid she ended her active career.

Private

Marie Svensson's younger sister Åsa ( born February 11, 1971) was also a national player with operations in the German Bundesliga.
