Marie Taglioni

Marie Taglioni, the Elder ( born April 23 1804 in Stockholm, Sweden, † April 22, 1884 in Marseille) was an Italian dancer.

Life

Marie Taglioni was the first star of the romantic ballet. It is considered the first master of the top dance. Their international career began when she performed in 1832 at the Paris Opera in the ballet La Sylphide by Jean Schneitzhoeffer. The choreographer of the piece was her father, Filippo Taglioni.

On September 18, 1832 married in London, Jean-Pierre Victor Albert Gilbert de Voisins (date of birth unknown, died 1863). With him she had two children: Marie (1835-1901, married to Alexander Troubetzkoy, 1813-1889. ) And Georges- Philippe ( 1843-1893, married with Sozonga Rallli, died in Paris in 1906. ).

Marie Taglioni left the Ballet de l' Opéra de Paris in 1837 and went to Saint Petersburg Mariinsky Ballet.

1847 she sat down to rest as a dancer, but continued to work as a dance teacher. Her brother Paul Taglioni was also a famous dancer and ballet master of the Royal Ballet Company in Berlin.

Marie Taglioni only work as a choreographer was the ballet Le Papillon by Jacques Offenbach for the protege of her dancer Emma Livry.
