Mariella Mehr

Mariella More (* December 27, 1947 in Zurich ) is a Swiss writer.

Life

The Swiss Mariella More was born as members of the minority of Jenischen 1947 in Zurich. More is a victim of the Agency for the Children of the street, the children from their " moving " parents separated forcibly. She grew up in 16 foster homes and three educational institutions. Four times she was sent to a psychiatric hospital, she spent 19 months in the women's prison Hindelbank.

Since 1975, she published, as a journalist, then as a writer. She has received numerous literary awards. 1981 her first novel was published ( Stone Age ). Since the 1970s, she is committed to the interests of the Roma, of which she also understands Jeni, of their organizations she finds herself ostracized by her commitment to the Roma community. She was a founding member of the 1975 Association of Travellers, in which it first as treasurer from 1976 to 1982 as secretary was active. At the General Meeting of 5 March 1983, she did not attend and was not re-elected by the Assembly as a member of the Board. She looks less than Swiss but rather as Roma writer. For her writing power as for their minority political engagement in 1998, she received an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel. Today Mariella More lives in Tuscany.

In 2000 she resigned from the Writers' Association group Olten, because this, to realize the goal of " a democratic socialist society ", had withdrawn from the purpose clause of its articles of incorporation. She is a member of the International Romani Writers ( Irwa ), the Vice President, she was at times.

More Mariella writes in German, but also French and Italian; Poems have been translated into Romani from Rajko Djuric.
