Marienwerder, Brandenburg

Marie Werder is an official belonging to municipality in the district of Barnim of the federal state of Brandenburg. She is a member of the Office Biesenthal - Barnim. Marie Werder referred simultaneously a part of the municipality of the same name.

Geography

The community Marienwerderstraße lies west of the Barnim district town of Eberswalde, immediately south of the Schorfheide. Through the community lead of the Oder- Havel Canal and the Finowkanal.

History

The new ( large) community Marienwerderstraße was formed on 1 May 2001 from the formerly independent communities Werder Marie and Sophie Städt. On 31 December 2002, also formerly independent municipality Ruhlsdorf came about. All three communities were formed at this time to the 1992 official United Schönebeck ( Schorfheide ). This was dissolved October 26, 2003; the community Marienwerderstraße was assigned to the Office Biesenthal - Barnim.

District Marienwerderstraße:

The foundation of the town in 1746, goes back to Frederick the Great. During the construction of the canal Finow a spinner village should be built on the bridge Leese.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 17 July 2000.

Blazon: " Argent, on a blue Wellenschildfuß a left -turn margined red sailboat with silver - befensterter cabin, blue sail, topped with a silver yarn, and red pennant on the black mast. "

The origin of the coat of arms dates back to the 19th century. In 1935, all designed by the heraldist Ottfried Neubecker version was approved by the Prussian Ministry of State as a municipal coat of arms of Marie Werder.

The boat on the waves describes the position of the district between the Oder-Havel Canal to the north and the south Finowkanal what Marienwerderstraße the term "island" earned. The spindle marks the founding of the town as a spinner village by Frederick the Great in the 18th century.

The site of the hamlet of Marie Werder is dominated by the village church built in 1855 in neo-Gothic style.

Regular events

Since 2004, takes place annually over a weekend in the summer, the "Island Lights Festival " at the cheat Leese lock instead.
