Marin (Wind)

The Marin (Fr. le marin = sailor, sea) is a moist onshore wind sea in the southern French Mediterranean area, mainly in the Gulf of Lions and Provence. It occurs also on the Adriatic Sea. It blows from the southwest to southeast and is strongly up to 6 Bft. His appearance draws a warm front of a depression with it.

Its development is favored by a low pressure area over north-west Europe and a high over the southern Mediterranean. This pressure difference and channeling effects between the Alps and Pyrenees lead to a southeasterly flow.
