Marina Carr

Marina Carr ( born November 17 1964, County Offaly ) is an Irish playwright.

Life and work

After completing her university degree Carr worked as a writer, first in Cooperation with the Abbey Theatre and later with the Trinity College in Dublin. In 2003, she was Heimboldshausen Professor of Hibernistik ( Celtic Studies ) at Villanova University ( Villanova / Pennsylvania).

Her works are known for black humor and brutality. Your current plays are more influenced by classical Greek.

Works

Her works include Low in the Dark (1989 ), The Soon ( 1994, with a price ), Portia Coughlan (1996 ), By the Bog of Cats, 1998 ( German: On cats Moor ) and On Raftery 's Hill (2000 ), a dark incest story, and finally the tragicomedy Woman and Scarecrow (2006).
