Marindia is a seaside resort in the south of Uruguay.

Geography

It is located on the edge of the Río de la Plata, on the Costa de Oro in the department of Canelones. Marindia lies east of the capital, Montevideo, near the east beach resorts Atlantida and Parque del Plata. Immediately to the east adjacent to Marindia located Fortin de Santa Rosa. West Salinas closes at the resort.

Population

Marindia has 3,543 inhabitants (as of 2011). So the place is one of the settlements within the department with the largest population growth in the recent time, because in 1996 the population was only 1,493.
