Marinette County, Wisconsin
Marinette County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin in the United States. In the census in 2010, the County had 41 749 inhabitants and a population density of 11.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) Marinette.
Geography
The County is located in northeastern Wisconsin, is bordered on the north by Michigan, on the southeast by Lake Michigan and has an area of 4015 square kilometers, of which 384 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
Marinette County was formed in 1879 from parts of Oconto County. It was named, as well as the district capital by Marguerite Chevallier an early owner of a trading post, also called Queen Marinette.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2000 lived in Marinette County 43 384 people in 17,585 households. 11,834 families living in the county. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.08 percent White, 0.23 percent African American, 0.50 percent Native American, 0.27 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.21 percent from other races groups; 0.69 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.75 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 17,585 households out of which 28.8 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.4 percent were married couples living together, 7.4 percent were single mothers. 32.7 percent were non-families. 28.3 percent of all households and 13.3 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size is 2.92 people.
23.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.1 percent between 18 to 24, 25.9 percent between 25 and 44, 25.0 percent between 45 and 64, and 17.6 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males.
