Mario Aerts ( born December 31, 1974 in Herentals ) is a Belgian former professional cyclist and directeur sportif.

Mario Aerts started his professional career in 1996 in Flanders and ran from 1998 to 2002 for Lotto - Mobistar (later Lotto - Adecco ). In 2003 and 2004 he was at Team Telekom (T- Mobile Team ) under contract. Since the 2005 season, he worked with the successor team of his former employer Davitamon -Lotto.

Aerts was five times in the Tour de France at the start. In 2002 he won the Flèche Wallonne; In the same year he was also second in the mountains classification in the Tour de France.
