Mario Craveri

Mario Craveri ( born May 2, 1902 in Turin, † 28 February 1990 in Bergamo ) was an Italian cinematographer and documentary filmmaker.

Life

Craveri worked since 1919 for the " Gloria film" his hometown as a camera assistant and celebrated its official debut as a cinematographer of the second bar during his time in the military in Libya, where he worked for Henry King's The white sister. In the following years he dedicated himself to documentary films and worked for the " Istituto Luce " to 1936, for which he turned material all over the world, among other things, in China, Ethiopia, and Spain. At least six long documentaries ran in cinemas.

After a first film in 1933, he began in 1936 to work as a cinematographer for feature films and was responsible in this position, the photography of numerous films, including several classic of Italian pre-war film. In the 1950s, he returned to his old passion and worked, eist in a team, to further documentaries, their photographic beauty also brought corresponding box-office success with it. 1959 and 1961, he directed, co-directed with Enrico grass, and two feature films.
