Mario Garcia

Mario R. García ( * February 15, 1947 in Placetas, Villa Clara, Cuba) is an American newspaper and magazine designer. In the last thirty years he has worked with over 450 media.

Garcia redesigned including: Wall Street Journal, Miami Herald, Reuters, Time and Paris Match. In 1977 he was appointed head of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in upstate New York. He is the successor of Edmund Arnold, "father" of modern American newspaper design. Garcia was the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for News Design and was elected in 2006 as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics.
