Mario Guiducci

Mario Guiducci (* 1585 in Florence, † 1646) was an Italian astronomer and lawyer.

He studied at the University of Pisa and became a confidant of Galileo Galilei. Under his name the treatise Discorso in 1619 published Delle Comete, which is but essentially was a work of Galileo. The two worked together, especially 1618-1623 when they Romanum with Orazio Grassi and other mathematicians of the Collegium argued about the nature of comets. They rejected this theory by Orazio Grassi and Tycho Brahe, that comets are heavenly bodies that moved outside the moon's orbit, and interpreted it instead as near-earth optical phenomena.
