Mario Kienzl (2010)

Mario Kienzl ( born December 19, 1983 in Graz) is an Austrian football player at the position of midfielder.

Career

Kienzl first club was the LUV Graz ( apprentice Support Association ). At 14, he moved to SK Sturm Graz and played in the BNZ U -16 ( federal youth development center ).

The 1.78 m wide central midfielder made ​​his Bundesliga debut in the 2001/ 02 season under coach Ivica Osim Star. He was only reserve players in the first team and gained mainly in the amateurs as captain of match practice. In the final round of the Supercup 2002, he came in to replace Arnold Wetl and played the last 40 minutes.

In the season 2002/ 03 it came to the release of Ivica Osim in Graz. The new coach Franco Foda knew Kienzl of the time in the amateurs. This year, he completed his military service in the Austrian Army. Therefore, he could not attend all training sessions and the first team so he brought it only to three inserts in the Bundesliga. Nevertheless Kienzl made ​​his debut in an international competition when he is off the bench in the 80th minute for Alain Masudi 5-2 against FC Livingston.

In the 2003 /04 season he scored his first goal against SV Mattersburg and SK Rapid Wien. He made it but due to some injury not to fight for a regular place in the league. He succeeded only in the 2007/ 08 season.

A highlight during the 2007/ 08 season was his goal in the 15th round against FC Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored bicycle kick. That goal was in October was elected Goal of the Month and elected at the end of the season for goal of the year.
