Mario Pestano

Mario Pestano García ( born April 8, 1978 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is a Spanish athlete who specializes in the discus throw.

Pestano was from 2001 to 2011 eleven times in a row, Spanish champion in the discus throw. He also holds the Spanish record ( 69,50 m ) and the Spanish junior record ( 61.73 m) in this discipline. One of his biggest international successes include his victories at the IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco in 2004 and at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería and two fourth places at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 and 2006 in Gothenburg.

Between 1999 and 2011, Pestano took part in six World Cups. He reached four times the final with the eighth rank in 2003 in Paris as the best placement. He also finished ninth at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Pestano is 1,95 m tall and weighs 120 kg. He starts for the CA Tenerife CajaCanarias and is coached by Luis Lizaso.
