Mario Pino Quivira

Mario Pino Quivira ( born September 22, 1952) is a Chilean geologist. He is a professor at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia and Dean of the Faculty of Science. In 1977 he was involved with Tom Dillehay instrumental in the excavation of the archaeological site of Monte Verde.

Pino studied from 1970 to 1976, first Geology in Valdivia. In 1984 he went to the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster, where he rer 1987 on stratigraphy, grain size and heavy mineral analysis of Miocene silikoklastichen deposition of the Province Valdivia, southern Chile to the Dr.. nat. doctorate.
