Mario Segni

Mariotto Segni called Mario ( born May 16, 1939 in Sassari, Sardinia ) is an Italian politician and professor.

Life

Mariotto Segni is the son of Sardinian politician and professor Antonio Segni. Segni was educated in his native city of Sassari, where he also completed the study of jurisprudence, before he settled for ten years as a lecturer and PhD student in civil law at Padua. 1975 Segni returned back as a full professor of Civil Law to Sassari.

Career

The long-standing member of the party of the Christian Democrats in 1967 first elected to the Regional Council and was from 1976 to 1996 a member of the Chamber of Deputies. In 1992 he founded the movement and Popular per la Reforma and Patto Segni in 1993, whose main concern was the change of ratio on majority voting.

In 1994, Segni candidate for the office of the Prime Minister of the Center Alliance Patto per l' Italia, 1994-1995 Member of the European Parliament.

From 1999 to 2004 he sat again thanks to an electoral alliance with the National Alliance in the European Parliament, 2003, it was renamed the Patto Segni in Patto dei Liberaldemocratici.
