Mario Streit

Mario Streit ( born April 14, 1967 in Rathenow ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. In 1988 he won the Olympic silver medal in pairs with coxswain.

Mario dispute started for the SG Dynamo Potsdam and coached at Bernd Landvoigt. 1984 and 1985, won dispute at the Junior World Championship title in the four with coxswain. In 1986, he won the East German championship title in the aft; at the World Cup 1986 took dispute with the DDR - eight fifth place. In 1987 he formed together with Detlef Kirchhoff and helmsman René Rensch a twin with coxswain, who finished fourth at the World Championships in Copenhagen. This two also launched at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and won the silver medal behind the Italian two with Carmine and Giuseppe Abbagnale and Giuseppe Di Capua there. 1989 won Kirchhoff and dispute together with coxswain Denny gravels in the GDR championship in two and finished fourth at the World Championships.

For winning the silver medal in Seoul Mario dispute with the Patriotic Order of Merit Award silver.
