Mario Zanin

Mario Zanin ( born July 3, 1940 in Santa Lucia di Sarano, Treviso ) is an Italian former racing cyclist.

He was at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 1964 Olympic champion in the individual road race. His winning time over the distance of 195 kilometers was four hours, 39 minutes, 51 seconds and 63 hundredths. This placed it in one of the most just decisions in Olympic cycling history just two hundredths of a second ahead of second -placed Danes Kjell Rodian and eleven hundredths of seconds before the Belgian Walter Godefroot as bronze medal winners.

In the year after his Olympic victory, he joined the professional sector and won in 1966 for the Swiss team Queen Anne driving the eleventh stage of the Vuelta a España. Two years later, he ended his active career.
