Marion Montgomery

Marian Montgomery ( born November 17, 1934 in Natchez, Mississippi as Marian Maud Runnells, † July 22, 2002 in Bray (Berkshire ) ) was an American jazz singer, who mainly lived in the UK. She made known to the local television audience with numerous jazz standards.

Life and work

Montgomery initially sang in the clubs of Atlanta and then Chicago, where she received a record deal brokered by Peggy Lee. In 1965 she worked in England with John Dankworth. After she married the British pianist Laurie Holloway, she moved to England, where she worked for television and regularly appeared in the 1970s in the show by Michael Parkinson and jazz songs interpreted. They also collaborated in concerts and on albums with Richard Rodney Bennett. Your version of " Maybe the Morning " was the theme song of the English broadcasts from Radio Luxembourg.
