Mariska Veres

Mariska Veres ( born October 1, 1947 in The Hague, † December 2, 2006 ibid ) was a Dutch singer.

Mariska Veres was the daughter of the Hungarian violinist Lajos Veres (1912-1981) from the people of Roma and a mother born in Germany French- Russian origin. Her musical career began in 1964 as lead singer of the group Les Mysteres. From 1968 onwards, she performed as a singer for the rock band Shocking Blue which also had several hits in Germany as many gecoverte Venus, Mighty Joe and Never Marry a Railroad Man. The musicians of Shocking Blue split up in 1974; until the reunion of the band in 1984 Veres appeared solo. From 1993, she also appeared with the Shocking Jazz Quintet.

In 2006 Mariska Veres died of a cancerous condition.
