Mark Allen (triathlete)

Mark Allen ( born January 12, 1958 in Glendale, California) is an American former triathlete.

Career

He won six times the Ironman Hawaii (1989-93, 1995). Allen was known for his duels with the also six times winner Dave Scott Hawaii, whose winning streak, he finished seventh in his participation in the Ironman Hawaii with a narrow lead of 58 seconds in 1989.

Along with Dave Scott ( six times won Hawaii: 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987 ), Scott Molina and Scott Tinley was Mark Allen to the "Big Four", the quasi accounted for at that time every triathlon among themselves. During his racing career, which officially ended in 1996, he managed to maintain an average of 90 % of top -three finishes.
