Mark Amodei

Mark Eugene Amodei ( born June 12, 1958 in Carson City, Nevada ) is an American politician. Since 2011 he represents the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Mark Amodei visited until 1976, the Carson High School and then studied until 1980 at the University of Nevada in Reno. After a subsequent law studies at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento (California ) and his 1983 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. This period was interrupted by his military service in the U.S. Army 1984-1987. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In 1997 he sat as an MP in the Nevada Assembly; 1999-2011 he was a member of the State Senate. From 2003 to 2005 he was its president. In 2010, he unsuccessfully sought the nomination of his party for the elections to the U.S. Senate, which instead went to Sharron Angle. From 2010 to 2011, he was chairman of the Republicans at the state level.

Following the resignation of Mr Dean Heller, who moved to the Senate, Amodei was in the due election for the second seat of Nevada as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 13 September 2011. He is a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Veterans Committee and three subcommittees.

In the congressional elections in 2012 Amodei sat down with 58:36 percent of the vote to Democrat Samuel by Koepnick.
