Mark Blount

Mark D. Blount ( born November 30, 1975 in Dobbs Ferry, New York ) is an American professional basketball player. The 2.13 meter tall Blount plays the position of center.

Blount was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 54th position in the NBA Draft in 1997, but was shortly afterwards transferred to the Boston Celtics. There he joined up with Tony Battie and Vitali Potapenko from the Center's position. Blount played until the 2005/06 season (apart from a six-month spell at the Denver Nuggets ) almost continuously for the Celtics before he was transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves and finally landed in the 2007/ 08 season with the Miami Heat.

Blount is considered to be shock-proof center, which is good for 10 points per game and always hits about half of his throws. In the Heat Blount also met 17 of 44 litters from beyond the three -point line; this hit rate of over 33% is very rare for a center. The weaknesses that his defensive play and his below-average rebound work apply, because as 2.13 meters great player collects less than 5 rebounds per game.
