Mark Brown (footballer born 1981)

Mark Brown ( born February 28, 1981 in Motherwell) is a Scottish football player.

Career start

Mark Brown started his career with the Rangers from Glasgow, where he played five competitive games and then moved to Motherwell. Brown made 20 games for the Steelmen before financial problems forced the club to release 20 players to reduce spending.

Change to Inverness

Brown Inverness Caledonian Thistle joined in the summer of 2002, after he was able to convince manager Steve Paterson. He was quickly at the Caley Jags an important part of the team. Brown graduated in that time, his first missions for the Scottish U -21 national team.

After further good performances he was appointed to the Scottish B Team, where he replaced in April 2005 against the B selection of Austria in the second half.

Transfer to Celtic

Because Brown's contract would have expired in the summer of 2007, Inverness sold it for a six-figure sum to the Scottish champions Celtic as the club would have lost it at the end of the season free transfer. Mark Brown is one of the few players who have both Old Firm teams, Celtic and Rangers played. In September 2009, he moved on loan to FC Kilmarnock, to compensate for the injury-related loss of Alan Combe.
