Mark Carroll (athlete)

Mark Carroll ( born January 15, 1972) is an Irish long-distance runner.

In 1995, he won the 5000m as a student at Providence College at the NCAA Indoor Championships and was at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg twelfth. About the same distance, he retired at the 1997 World Championships in Athens in the lead, won bronze at the European Athletics Championships 1998 in Budapest and came at the 1999 World Championships in Seville on the 14th Place.

In 2000 he won at the European Indoor Championships in Ghent gold above 3000 m, but did not at the Olympic Games in Sydney via the feed addition.

In 2001 he was. At the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon seventh over 3000m and failed at the World Championships in Edmonton about 5000 m again in the first round

The following year he was at the European Championships in Munich sixth over 5000 m. In the fall, he won the New York Half Marathon Grete 's Great Gallop and was sixth at the New York City Marathon.

In 2004 he retired from about 5000 m in the flow at the Olympic Games in Athens. In 2005 he was fifth at the Great North Run in 2006 he won the Canton Homecoming Road Race.

At the World Cross Country Championships he finished 1999 in Belfast on the short distance to the 21st place in 2002 in Dublin, on the long haul to 48th place.

Three times he was Irish champion in the 1500 m (1995, 1999, 2002 ) and five times more than 5000 m (1999-2002, 2004).

Mark Carroll is currently track coach at Auburn University. Since 2005, he is married to the U.S. long -distance runner Amy Rudolph.
