Mark Critz

Mark Stephen Critz ( born January 5, 1962 in Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania) is an American politician. Between 2010 and 2013 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 2012 election, he defeated his Republican competitor Keith Rothfus.

Critz studied until 1987 at Indiana University in Pennsylvania. He then worked as a private businessman. Among other things, he was manager of a Roy Rogers restaurants in Wilmington ( Delaware). After that he was temporarily employed in construction. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1998 and 2010 he was on the staff of Congressman John Murtha.

After Murtha death Critz was at the due election for the twelfth seat of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on May 18, 2010. After a re-election he was able to implement his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2013. Critz was a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Small Business, and in five sub-committees. He also belonged to eight Congressional Caucuses. Critz considered mid-2013 to compete in the election again in 2014 for the same seat, but instead decided in 2014 to go into the race as Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

With his wife, he has two children; the family lives in Johnstown.
