Mark Fisher (architect)

Mark Fisher OBE ( born April 20, 1947 in Warwickshire, England; † June 25, 2013 in London) was a British architect. The best known were his numerous stage designs for popular music groups and solo artists such as Pink Floyd, U2, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Lady Gaga and Madonna. He designed stages for Olympic opening and closing ceremonies in Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Life

Mark Fisher was educated at the prestigious Pocklington School in East Riding of Yorkshire. In 1971 he completed his studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Influenced by the work of Inigo Jones and John Nash's Fisher turned soon after his studies to the design of stage sets. His first work was the set for the rock musical "Jesus Christ Superstar".

1977 Fisher first worked with Pink Floyd, and was also involved in the stage design for The Wall 1980/81. The large, inflatable doll teacher for the hit " Another Brick in the Wall" was designed by its cover. Subsequently he worked for both camps of the warring Pink Floyd, what the re- runs of The Wall by Roger Waters in 1990 and from 2010 also included how the major world tours of ex-colleagues from 1987 to 1989 and 1994.

Since 1989, Fisher designed the stage for the Rolling Stones ( and Others Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and Bridges to Babylon), from 1992, to U2 (among ZooTV, PopMart, 360 °). From 1985 to 1994 Fisher operation together with his colleague, Jonathan Park, the Fisher Park. He then founded Mark Fisher Studio (later renamed Stufish ). In 2012 he was involved in the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II.

He died on June 25, 2013 in a hospital in London.
