Mark Fotheringham

Mark McKay Fotheringham ( born October 22, 1983 in Dundee) is a Scottish football player who is under contract with the English third division Notts County since 2013.

Playing career

Fotheringham was captain of the Scottish Under-15 national team and was subsequently courted by several English clubs, including Manchester United. Nevertheless, he remained in Scotland and joined Celtic Glasgow. He made his debut in the Scottish Premier League on the final day of the season 1999/2000. In 2003 he moved to FC free transfer Dundee, for which he played 51 appearances in two years, scoring four goals, the descent in the 2004/05 season but could not prevent.

At the beginning of the season 2005/ 06 Fotheringham joined by a total of 52 missions in the highest Scottish league for allegedly 300,000 euros to the German second division side SC Freiburg, where he came to twelve operations until 13 May 2006. Despite its existence reservist Mark Fotheringham was some fans of SC Freiburg because of its combative style of play at a premium.

In the first half of the season 2006/ 07 he played in Switzerland for FC Aarau in the Super League. For family reasons he left in the middle of the season the club and returned to the United Kingdom. In January 2007, he trained with at the Glasgow Rangers to get a new contract. On January 31, he decided to play for Norwich City.

Since December 2007 he was captain of the Canaries after Jason Shackell was failed. He retained the role of the captain. 23 May 2008, his contract was extended for one year. It was also agreed that Fotheringham continues to be captain of the team.

In early March 2009, he responded in a game against Coventry City so that it is directly left the stadium after his coach. He was booed during the match by the fans. Because of this reaction, he was replaced as captain by Gary Doherty, as the then manager Bryan Gunn was disappointed that this action. Since then, he made no play for Norwich and was released in late April.

Since that time, Fotheringham was without a club. He played before at various clubs. After he had signed a contract with Anorthosis Famagusta, whose term begins in January 2010, he signed for Dundee United for three months.
