Mark Gorski

Mark Brian Gorski ( born January 6, 1960 in Evanston, Illinois ) is a former American professional cyclist and cycling official.

Gorski began in 1974 with the cycling and in 1978 his first major success when he was U.S. junior champion in track sprint. 1980 and 1983, he was U.S. champion of adults in the same discipline and was nominated for the prize in 1983 for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. At the games, he sat down in the final of the sprint track tournament against his compatriot Nelson Vails through and won the gold medal, what Gorski's greatest sporting triumph was. The UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 1985 he was fourth, fifth in 1986. At the Pan American Games in 1987 he won a silver medal.

After retirement from active sports Gorski was a board member of the U.S. Cycling Federation and served this as a sports director. Gorski was director of the team U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team in 1999, with the Lance Armstrong won the Tour de France five times.

Gorski was introduced into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame of the U.S. cycling 1995.
